While traditional dentures certainly have their place in dentistry, they may not be the optimal choice for a variety of reasons. Some patients have trouble adjusting to the feel and fit, which can lead to both discomfort and embarrassment, as in the case when they fall out at inopportune times. They might also alter one’s speech patterns. Others find it difficult to adjust to having a piece of hard plastic across the roof of their mouth during waking hours. In addition, dentures can cause deterioration of the jaw bone and sagging of facial muscles. This can tend to worsen over time to the point where, for some patients, they are no longer able to wear removable dentures for their lower teeth. Facial sagging can make one appear older than they really are.

While Dr. Brooks is happy to meet with patients as often as necessary to ensure proper fit of their dentures, he realizes that patients have better things to do with their time than come in for a denture adjustment.

Dental Implants Offer a Better Solution

Implant-retained dentures improve your smile and oral health by not only creating an aesthetically pleasing appearance but also by providing a stable and permanent support structure. This means you need no longer be concerned about your teeth slipping or falling out of your mouth.

Implants are placed in the jaw using a gentle surgical technique, and are positioned where they will offer the greatest support. The process stimulates the growth of new bone (a process known as osseo-integration). Once the implants have fully integrated, we invite the patient for a follow up visit with Dr. Brooks to attach your replacement teeth.

Implant-retained dentures look and function just like your natural teeth.
