Conscious and IV Sedation

If you think you’re alone in your fear of visiting the dentist, rest assured… plenty of people experience dental anxiety. In fact, 40 million Americans avoid dental visits because of fear, according to the Academy of General Dentistry. But you don't have to let this common phobia prevent you from achieving a beautiful smile and optimal oral health. Dr. Brooks is a caring and compassionate dentist who uses sedation to help nervous patients overcome their fears.

Oral Conscious Sedation

If you elect to remain conscious for your appointment, Dr. Brooks will prescribe a calming sedative to be taken about an hour prior to treatment. The sedative will relax your mind and body, eliminating anxiety and easing you into a state of complete calm, but you will still be available to answer any questions should the doctor have any. During your sedation dentistry appointment, Dr. Brooks can potentially perform many procedures and turn back the clock on years of dental damage or neglect, and you won’t mind at all.

Oral sedation is safe and effective. It wears off gradually and leaves patients with no ill effects and no recollection of treatment details—just pleasant memories off a relaxing visit and a healthy new smile.

IV Sedation

For patients with severe dental anxiety, Dr. Brooks may recommend IV sedation. IV sedation allows our dental team to do any procedure necessary (even oral surgeries or extractions), as you sleep peacefully, entirely unaware of what’s going on. With IV sedation, you will go to sleep before we begin; and when you wake up, you’ll have no memory of the procedure(s). Additionally, IV sedation wears of quickly, and you will be able to go about your day with no side effects from the sedation.

Dr. Tim Brooks believes it’s never too late to achieve the smile of your dreams; and using expert restorative, cosmetic, and preventive dentistry, he works with you to make that dream a reality.
